synopsis

Early 20th century, Corfu.Through the passion of the love affairs and the tension they create, unfolds the dramatic collapse of the noble Ofiomahos family, against the backdrop of the rise of the Greek bourgeoisie. The love between two young people – the romantic intellectual Alkis Sozomenos and the beautiful aristocrat Evlalia Ofiomahos – is sacrificed at the altar of a cruel financial exchange.The debt-ridden Ofiomahos family puts aside emotions and principles, and marries off their daughter to the wealthy doctor and deputy Aristidis Steriotis in order to salvage their fortune.
