, was yesterday (23 March) named Best Norwegian Film of 2016 by the Norwegian Film Critics Association and received the prize from Norwegian actress Pia Tjelta at Oslo’s Engebret Café, where the accolades were presented for the 64th time.

Recently, The King’s Choice, which was last year’s number one in the Norwegian charts, taking 713,276 admissions, won the Norwegian film industry’s Canon Awards for Best Script (Harald Rosenløw Eeg, Jan Trygve Røyneland), Best Producers (Finn GjerdrumStein B Kvae), Best Actor (Jesper Christensen) and Best Cinematography (John Christian Rosenlund), adding the Audience Award, as voted for by the users of the filmweb.no website (read the news).

Norwegian professor of film studies at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology Anne Gjelsvik was awarded the Messenger Prize in recognition of her being a real enthusiast and an indispensable resource for the Norwegian cinema-going public, who has enriched film culture by spreading knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm for film as art.
