Václav Kadrnka

Václav Kadrnka was born on September 10, 1973 in Zlín, Czechoslovakia. In 1988, he immigrated with his mother to the United Kingdom to join his father, who had defected to the West because of the communist regime. Kadrnka studied theater studies in London before returning to Czechoslovakia in 1992. He worked as an assistant director to Vojtěch Jasný. From 1999 till 2008 he studied feature film directing at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague. Since 2008 he has done freelance work in films as director, screenwriter and producer. Osmdesát dopisů is his feature-length debut and won two prizes during the Tessaloniki Film Festival in 2011.
