Michele Placido

Born in Ascoli Satriano in Apulia on 19.5.1946, he has been an actor since 1972, and began directing in 1990.

He has appeared in over 90 theatrical features and television films and worked with the cream of Italian directorsincluding Francesco Rosi, Marco Bellocchio, the Taviani brothers, Marco Ferreri, Damiano Damiani and Lina Wertmüller.

He made a name for himself throughout Europe for his performance as Milanese police inspector Corrado Cattani in the TV series La Piovra (1984-89).

He realised, among others, Del perduto amore (1998), Un eroe borghese (1995), Le amiche del cuore (1992) Pummarò (1990).
