Hany Abu-Assad

Born in Nazareth in 1961, he went to Amsterdam to study technical engineering. After working as an aircraft engineer for several years in the Netherlans, he founded the Dutch-based campagny Ayloul Film Productions and began producing television programmes about immigrants. He directed his first short film in 1992 and his first feature film in 1998. His subsequent works all revolved around the subjects of multicultural coexistence - both in Europe and in the Middle East, until he scored an international theatrical hit with Rana's Wedding in 2002
