Standing tall on the works-in-progress programme are two films revolving around heroic characters who must overcome their physical and mental limits: Speedway (Żużel) by Dorota Kędzierzawska (see the article) and The Fastest (Najlepszy) by Lukasz Palkowski (see the article), based on the life of sportsman Jerzy Górki.

) will also be presenting a work in progress entitled The Man with the Magic Box, an imaginary voyage through time and space, with a plot that kicks off in Warsaw in 2030. As a reminder, the movie scooped a Special Mention at the ninth edition of ScripTeast at Cannes in 2015.

Another work in progress is The Mute by Bartek Konopka (who was nominated for an Oscar in 2010 for his documentary short Rabbit à la Berlin), featuring cinematography by Pawel Edelman (Polanski’s and Wajda’s pet DoP) and with a storyline depicting an attempt to Christianise a pagan community in an unspecified place in the past.

Of note among the projects in development, Borys Lankosz (A Grain of Truth [+leggi anche:

The Polish Days participants will also have the chance to discover Pilot 9/11, the new project by Norman Leto, whose most recent opus, Photon (which blends documentary, fiction and animation in a kind of meeting of art and science, in the guise of an experimental conference where the audience is invited to follow the course of history, from the very beginnings of the universe to the future that lies ahead after the end of humankind), will be presented in the official competition at this edition of the New Horizons Film Festival.
