Forte crescita per l'Industry Village di Les Arcs

"A setting and atmosphere that cannot be found anywhere else, a record number of sellers and distributors for a festival of our size, and a reputation that continues to grow." For Jeremy Zelnikwho – in charge of the professional component (the general direction of which is entrusted to Pierre-Emmanuel Fleurantin) of the 9th Les Arcs European Film Festival – these are the main reasons for the growing success of the Industry Village, which ran from the 16 to 19 December with more than 500 participants from 29 countries, an increase of about 25% in comparison with last year. A growth that is also explained by the Franco-German Film Meetings proceedings this year at Les Arcs (organised by Unifrance and the FFA), which brought together more than 200 professionals, 50 of whom also attended the Industry Village.

Enthusiasm was particularly noticeable this year at the Co-production Village, which hosted the same number of projects as in previous editions, with 21 projects selected in total. "We had 45 requests for individual appointments per project, far more than the 24 slots available, but we’ve also hosted lots of informal meetings as our framework is flexible," said Anna Ciennik, co-ordinator of the Industry Village. The most requested projects this year were Echo [+leggi anche:

Growth has also been noted in the new initiative set up last year in partnership with the national European cinema institutes, who come to Les Arcs with delegations of producers in search of co-production projects. This year’s edition was attended by Poland, Norway, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Kosovo.

Work in Progress (read the report and the news on the awards) has once again demonstrated its fighting strength, with 70 international sellers in attendance at the Arc 2000 cinema screen last Sunday to find out more about the 15 selected feature films. The individual meetings hosted the next day, for the second year in a row, also went very well. Time was also set aside for the members of the jury to meet with the directors and producers of the films in competition for theEurimages Lab Project Award, in order to further develop their decisions before awarding the prizes.

For the record, the Industry Village also included the Music Village Pro, the Village des écoles, and a whole series of conferences and panels that were also fully attended, yet further indication that industry professionals hold Les Arcs European Film Festival in very high esteem. The Distributors/Operators Summit will be taking over from today, running until 23 December with 250 French participants set to attend.
