The sales team from m-appeal will present a brand-new acquisition from Brazil as a world premiere in the Panorama. In Hard Paint by Marcio Reolon and Filipe Matzembacher, a young man earns a living as a performer in chat rooms, called NeonBoy, who glows in the dark. But things take a dramatic turn when somebody copies his act. From Sweden comes the debut feature The Heart [+leggi anche:

 by writer-director Fanni Metelius, who rips apart relationship prejudices and explores what really makes our pulses quicken in matters of the modern heart. Furthermore, m-appeal is touting the dark horror-comedy The Cannibal Club by Guto Parente.

Berlin-based Films Boutique is proud to have three world premieres in the Berlinale Competition. In his new documentary Eldorado [+leggi anche:

) questions the system of organised aid for refugees, who have no real chance of forging a better life in Europe. In the Iranian black comedy Pig by Mani Haghighi, a filmmaker is upset that he can’t make movies any more. But when directors start being murdered in Tehran, he is frustrated that he is being ignored. Films Boutique’s third Golden Bear contender is the Filipino rock opera Season of the Devil by Lav Diaz, which describes the gloomy mood during the dictatorship of the military-controlled militia during the late 1970s.

by Katharina Mückstein, which will premiere in Panorama Special and has a cross-section screening in Generation 14+. Shortly before graduating from school, life begins to change for a girl when she is forced to renegotiate notions like love and friendship in a boys’ gang.
