The screenplay, written by Fabienne Berthaud and Claire Barré (Sopadin Grand Prix for Best Screenwriter in 2014), based on the book Mon initiation chez les chamanes by Corine Sombrun, revolves around Corine, who, while on a reporting assignment in Mongolia, has no idea that the shamanic ceremony she bears witness to will suddenly make her completely lose consciousness. When she wakes up, the diagnosis leaves no room for doubt: Corine is an unwitting shaman. She will have to learn to tame this gift that nothing in her past had ever destined her to receive.

Produced by Carole Scotta for Haut et Court, in co-production with Christine Palluel for 3x7 Productions, A Bigger World will also be co-produced by Belgian outfit Scope Pictures (Geneviève Lemal). The movie, which has been backed by the CNC’s advance on receipts, Wallimage, and the SG images, Cineventure and Cofimage Soficas, will be shot over a period of seven weeks, split into two sessions: the first from 4-29 June in Mongolia (Tsagaan Nuur and Mörön) and the second in Liège from 10-26 September. The French theatrical release will be handled by Haut et Court Distribution, and WaZabi Films will be in charge of the international sales.
