by Brit Molly Manning Walker has won the Un Certain Regard Prize at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, handed out by the jury chaired by John C Reilly (who was flanked by Alice Winocour, Paula Beer, Davy Chou and Émilie Dequenne). Produced by the UK’s Wild Swim Films together with Greece’s Heretic Films and Belgium’s Umedia, the feature debut is being sold overseas by mk2 Films.

The Jury Prize singled out another feature debut, Hounds [+leggi anche:

by Kamal Lazarq, produced by France’s Barney Production, Morocco’s Mont Fleuri and Belgium’s Beluga Tree, with further support from Qatar. Its international sales are overseen by Charades.

The Directing Prize went to Morocco’s Asmae El Moudir for The Mother of All Lies, which is being sold internationally by Austrian sales agent Autlook Filmsales.

Also of note is the Freedom Prize, which went to Goodbye Julia [+leggi anche:

by Sudan’s Mohamed Korfani, a feature debut co-produced on the European side by France (Dolce Vita Films), Germany (Die Gesellschaft) and Sweden (Riverflower).

 by Portugal’s João Salaviza and Brazil’s Renée Nader Messora. Produced on the Portuguese side by Karõ Filmes, the feature is being sold by Films Boutique.

by Belgian-Congolese director Baloji. Produced by Belgium’s Wrong Men and co-produced by fellow Belgian outfit Serendipity, France’s Special Touch Studios, the Netherlands’ New Amsterdam Film Company and Germany’s Radical Media, among others, the feature debut is being sold by Memento International.
