The results of the second Eurimages Project Evaluation Session of 2023 have just been announced. Further to recommendations made by independent experts meeting online, the Executive Committee of the Fund has decided to support the co-production of 33 feature films, including 3 documentaries and 2 animations, for a total amount of €9 652 000. Of the 33 co-production projects supported during the session, 18 are to be directed or co-directed by women. This represents 56.36% of the total funding awarded.

The films supported include the new work by acclaimed directors such as Spanish filmmaker Óliver Laxe, whose latest effort Fire Will Come [+leggi anche:

grabbed a Jury Prize in Cannes' Un Certain Regard section in 2019, who has received €420,000 for After (Spain/France). Other veteran filmmakers that have received funding for their new projects are Denmark's Anders Thomas Jensen, for Back to Reality, a co-production between Denmark and Sweden (€500,000) and Italy's Francesca Comencini, for First Comes Life, then the Movies, a co-production between Italy and France (€350,000). ) have also received funding for their new projects, respectively €150,000 for When the Light Breaks (Iceland/Netherlands) and €480,000 for The Girl with the Needle (Denmark/Poland/Sweden).

Other established filmmakers that have received funding for their new projects are Palestine's Cherien Dabis (€500,000 for All That's Left of You, a co-production between Germany and Cyprus), Turkey's Pelin Esmer (€160,000 for Wait Till You Hear Mine, a co-production between Turkey and Romania), Serbia's Ivana Mladenovic (€354,000 for Sorella di Clausura, a co-production between Romania and Serbia), Greece's Alexis Alexiou (€176,000 for Sea of Glass, a co-production between Greece, Bulgaria and Cyprus), Slovenia's Klemen Dvornik (€150,000 for Block 5, a co-production between Slovenia, Czech Republic and Serbia), Belgium's Cecilia Verheyden (€360,000 for Skiff, a co-production between Belgium and Netherlands), Germany's Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu (€240,000 for Transit Times, a co-production between Germany and Romania), and Israel's Ido Fluk (€470,000 for The Girl from Köln, a co-production between Germany and Poland).

The animation films financed are Born Happy (Latvia/Poland) by Latvia's Edmunds Jansons with €150,000, and Outfoxed (Ireland/Belgium) by Ireland's Maurice Joyce and Paul Bolger (Ireland) with €450,000.

Regarding the supported documentaries, the titles are Father (Romania/Germany/Netherlands) by Romania's Lina Vdovîi and Radu Ciorniciuc with €150,000, No Mercy - The Unsparing Gaze (Germany, Austria) by Germany's Isa Willinger with €274,000 and North South Man Woman (Norway/Latvia) by Belgium's Sun Kim and Norway's Morten Traavik with €140,000.
