Written by the director, the story revolves around thirty-year-old Jérémie who returns to Saint-Martial in the Massif Central region to attend an old friend’s funeral. In this village full of things left unsaid, he finds himself the target of rumour and suspicion, to the point he commits an irreparable act and finds himself at the centre of a police investigation…

Miséricorde is produced by Charles Gillibert on behalf of CG Cinéma, in co-production with Arte France Cinéma. Pre-purchased by OCS, the feature film also enjoys an advance on receipts from the CNC, support from the Occitanie region and backing from the SOFICA companies Cinécap and Cinéaxe. Having kicked off on 30 October, filming is taking place in southern Aveyron and along the border of the Gard region, with a wrap date of 15 December and cinematography entrusted to Claire Mathon (awarded the 2020 César in her speciality for Portrait of a Lady on Fire [+leggi anche:

For the record, CG Cinéma are currently overseeing post-production on La Disparition by Kirill Serebrennikov (starring August Diehl in the lead role), Spectateurs ! by Arnaud Desplechin (read our news – a film halfway between documentary and fiction) and Leo Carax’s enigmatic movie C’est pas moi (announced as a "free object in the form of a self-portrait which revisits over 40 years of the director’s filmography and explores the milestones in his life, whilst also capturing the political earthquakes of the time"), as well as helming post-production on My Father’s Son, by Chinese director Qiu Sheng (revealed in 2018 in Locarno’s Cineasti del Presente line-up via Suburban Birds), as a minority partner.
