Shooting begins on first Spanish robot film, Eva

Production company Escándalo Films, in partnership with ESCAC, has started shooting Kike Maíllo’s Eva, the fifth feature in its Ópera Prima (“Debut Work”) programme.

The latest film released as part of this series, whose aim is to give young directors a chance to make the leap to features, was Mar Coll’s Three Days With the Family, which has been nominated for two Goyas. Also, soon to be launched is Elena Trapé’s Blog, which is currently in post-production.

Eva is set in a futuristic, snow-covered world in which humans live alongside robots. It centres on an 11-year-old girl who suffers from amnesia as a result of a tragic accident that took her mother's life.

The cast includes Claudia Vega as Eva, Daniel Brühl, Alberto Ammann (who hasn’t stopped since the success of Cell 211 [+see also:
