21/11/2002 - The 1st Berlin Talent Campus will run from 10 - 14 February 2003 with conferences, seminars, workshops and screenings for young filmmakers, hosted by Wenders, Cowie, Adams & Baricco

The Berlinale Talent Campus is a new and important sidebar event to the main Berlin International Film Festival. The Campus is organised in co-operation with the Berlin-Brandenburg Film Board and UK Film Council and will take place in Berlin’s House of World Cultures from 10-14 February 2003.
The Talent Campus offers a platform for young filmmakers to meet and exchange views and ideas with colleagues from all over the world. The five-day event will cover all aspects of the filmmaking process and will see the participation of both established film makers and young producers and film students from the US, Australia and Asia; film directors from Argentina and Israel; scriptwriters from Syria, Iceland, Nigeria and of course, Germany.
The morning sessions will cover a variety of events ranging from analysis of individual case studies, lectures, and workshops on important issues like writing and marketing films. The Campus lecturers will also instruct participants on the correct ethical approach to filmmaking, and on sources of inspiration. Most of those who have applied to take part in the Talent Campus are interested in learning about the ways in which digital technology influences filmmaking, and new ways in which teamwork can contribute to the telling of a story. The afternoon sessions will be dedicated to individual events like screenings, followed by discussions with the filmmakers themselves, and other screenings that are also open to the public.
The Talent Campus will be hosted by world-renowned talents like film director, Wim Wenders, production designer, Ken Adams (James Bond – Goldfinger, The Madness of King George) and the founder and director of the Jerusalem Cinematheque and Israel Film Archives Lia van Leer. Other professionals such as the film critic Peter Cowie and Italian writer Alessandro Baricco will join them and as Dieter Kosslick, artistic director of the Berlinale said, “Right from the beginning, the idea of the Berlinale Talent Campus was met with great enthusiasm“.
The deadline for applications to the Berlinale Talent Campus is 6 December 2002. All applicants must have worked on a film and be fluent in English and must submit a one-minute film that will be screened during the Campus.
