(see article), young French director Emmanuel Mouret has started preparing his next film, Un baiser s’il vous plait (lit. "A Kiss, Please").

Produced by Moby Dick Films, who have worked with the director on all of his films since his second feature (Venus and Flower), Un baiser s’il vous plait has recently secured co-production and pre-sales agreements with Arte France Cinéma.

A specialist in romantic comedies, Mouret has chosen a storyline similar to that in previous films – a romantic encounter between a man and a woman. He wants to kiss her, she wants to kiss him, but something stands in the way. The director revealed further details of the story during the promotion of Change of Address: "A married woman sleeps with her best friend to console him. The problem is that they both enjoyed it. They are frustrated because they cannot forget this seemingly unforgettable moment. They start over with the aim of destroying the sacred aura surrounding that moment, but that turns out to be even more difficult."

The film’s producer Frédéric Niedermayer told the daily Le Monde that he would live to give the director a larger budget and see the film obtain pre-sales from TV broadcasters. "Institutional investors don’t think that Mouret is a serious enough director, his films are too light and entertaining. But he has an unusual style and is a great screenwriter. TV channels think that the actors chosen are not well-known enough.” This probably explains why the cast for Un baiser s’il vous plait, shooting of which is planned to take place from November 2006 in Paris and Lyon, has not yet been decided on.

The selection committee at Arte France Cinéma has also given its approval for four new films: Dans la vie by Philippe Faucon (Istiqlal Films), Pour l’instant la liberté (lit. "Freedom Right Now") by Arash T. Riahi (Les Films du Losange), Lemon Tree by Eran Riklis (Mact Productions) and Ballon rouge (lit. "Red Ball") by Hou Hsiao Hsien (Margo films).
