Sophie Marceau films Trivial

by

Shooting on Trivial, the second feature by Sophie Marceau – which kicked off on August 7 – is currently well underway in Normandy. Unlike her directorial debut (Speak to Me of Love, 2002) in which she did not star, Marceau (who turns 40 on November 17) this time plays one of the lead roles alongside Christophe Lambert, Nicolas Briançon, Robert Hossein, Marie-Christine Barrault, Judith Magre, Marilou Berry and Simon Abkarian.

Co-scripted by the director, Jacques Deschamps and Gianguido Spinelli, Trivial is made along the lines of a thriller. Hired by the mysterious and beautiful young Lucie (Marceau), a police officer nearing retirement (Lambert) investigates the disappearance of a powerful palace owner in Deauville (Hossein).

When the two meet the son of the disappeared (Briançon), the search ends in the discovery of a labyrinth of secrets involving a deceased actress who strangely resembles the woman at the start of the investigation.

Filming, which also took place in Paris, is now taking place in Le Havre and will end in Deauville on October 20. Produced by Oury Milsthein for Iliade & Films, Trivial is being co-produced by France 3 Cinéma and SND. Pre-bought by Canal+, the film will be released in theatres through SND in the second half of 2007.

International sales are being handled by M6 Droits Audiovisuels. Once editing is completed, Marceau will start work on her next film in spring 2007, Les femmes de l'ombre, to be directed by Jean-Paul Salomé.
