FERA to meet in Budapest

From June 11-13, Budapest will host the annual General Assembly meeting of Federation of European Film Directors (FERA). The meeting will open tomorrow evening at the prestigious Urania National Film Palace in the presence of Hungary's Minister of Education and Culture, István Hiller.

Fifty-six European audiovisual directors representing 25 countries will participate in the conferences, which will focus on authors’ rights in regards to films produced during Communism; European directors’ contracts; and remuneration and business models of online distribution of European films.

Speakers include FERA CEO Cecile Despringre, Zsolt Kézdi-Kovács (Hungary), Florian Prugger (Germany, BVR), Sandra Piras (Denmark), Charles Sturridge and Piers Haggard (UK), Jean-François Joffre (France, SRF), Valerio Caruso (Cineuropa.org), Péter Bognár (Budapest Film, Filmklik.hu), Thomas Jörg (Cinexe.com) and Matthieu Boucher (TheAuthors.com).

FERA's 2009 General Assembly meeting is hosted and co-organized by Magyar Filmunió, the association for the promotion of Hungarian cinema.
