The curtain opens for Film Week
Relatives by István Szabó opens today the 37th Hungarian Film Week which will run in Budapest until February 7. The event, which presents each year the best of Magyar production, offers 104 films in four competitive sections (features, documentaries, shorts and experimental films). In the main category, 24 features will battle it out for the 2006 prize, headed by Taxidermia [+see also:

film profile] by Kornél Mundruczó (screened at the last Cannes Festival in Un Certain Regard), Csoma’s Legendry by Tibor Szemzo and also the highly anticipated White Palms by Szabolcs Hajdu. Also on the menu out of competition are 72 others productions including notably six animated films and TV productions.
