Production – France
Polaris produces Delpy’s Two Days
Filming of Two Days, the second feature by Julie Delpy, will kick off in Paris on Monday. The French director will also star in the film, alongside US actor Adam Goldberg and German star Daniel Brühl in this debut film from Paris-based production outfit Polaris.

Nominated for an Oscar last year for Best Screenplay for Before Sunset, along with co-writers Richard Linklater, Ethan Hawke and Kim Krizan, the filmmaker and actress continues her successful career on both sides of the Atlantic, which has included roles in Bad Blood by Leos Carax (1986), The Passion of Beatrice by Bertrand Tavernier (1987), Europa Europa by Agnieszka Holland (1990), Killing Zoe by Roger Avery (1994), Before Sunrise by Richard Linklater (1995) and Broken Flowers by Jim Jarmusch (2005).

Making her directorial debut in 2002 with the acclaimed feature Looking for Jimmy, set in Los Angeles, in the romantic comedy Two days Delpy will explore cross-cultural differences between a French woman and her American boyfriend. Returning from a trip to Venice, the couple, who live in New York, decide to stop over in Paris, the young woman’s (Julie Delpy) hometown. There, her boyfriend discovers some upsetting revelations from his partner’s past. According to the director, Goldberg’s character “meets some of his partner’s ex-lovers and has the impression she’s slept with half of Paris".

Shooting is set to last four weeks in the French capital and Two Days should be ready in early 2007, just in time for Sundance and Berlin. The feature marks the beginnings of business by Polaris Film Production & Finance, a Paris-based company set up by Thierry Potok (former Managing Director of Vivendi Germany and director of Studios Babelsberg and also co-producer of The Constant Gardener [trailer]), Christophe Mazodier (producer of Love in Thoughts in 2002 with Stefan Arndt of X-Filme Creative Pool, and a specialist in film financing at his company Short Cuts), and Belgian producer Hubert Toint (Saga Film, Darwin’s Nightmare).
