11/04/2013 - The coproduction between Poland, Italy and Russia is a mixture of love, religion and industry, starring Riccardo Leonelli and Agata Buzek

Wednesday April 10 marked the beginning of filming for Polish maestro Krzysztof Zanussi’s (photo) latest project. The Foreign Body, a working title, is being coproduced by Revolver by Paolo Spina (associate producer of Come il vento by Marco Puccioni, currently in post production) with Polish Tor Film and Russian Fora Film. In Italy, associate production is under way with young TVco. Ltd by Vincenzo Mosca. The film will be shot in around two months in Ancona, Warsaw and Moscow.

The film will star Riccardo Leonelli (currently in Italian cinemas with Outing - Fidanzati per sbaglio [+see also:

film profile]), who returns to work with Zanussi after their Polish television experience The Internal Voices. Italian Argentinian actress Victoria Zinny, who starred in Viridiana by Luis Bunuel, will return to the camera after a collaboration in Black Sun (2007). Three well-known Polish actresses complete the cast: young Agata Buzek (European Shooting Star in 2010), Weronika Rosati (a Lola in Jimmy Bobo - Bullett to the Head by Walter Hill) and Agnieszka Grochowska.

The film tells the story of Fabrizio, a young Italian manager, active in one of the Catholic rebirth movements, who follows the woman he loves to Poland. She is planning on joining the orders though. Hoping the woman will change her mind, he finds a job inside an important energy multinational, which economic interests are at odds with Poland’s as well as with the forces for modernisation in the country.
