Starring Piroska Molnár, Réka Tenki, Zsolt Nagy, Zsolt Trill, Irén Bordán, Géza Hegedus D. and Miklós Benedek, Free Fall follows the story of a woman’s suicide as she hurls herself off the roof of a block of flats. While she is falling, she looks in through the windows and discovers the real lives of the inhabitants...

“As a producer, I find it particularly fascinating to make a film over such a short time period,” Ferenc Pusztai (of KMH Film) told Cineuropa. “It’s an incredible challenge to work under these circumstances, and the project itself is superb. Free Fall is successfully being made so quickly thanks to the enthusiasm and talent of the director and the DoP, Gergely Pohárnok – but also because the actors and technical team are experienced and highly professional. In order to speed up the process, we have been editing directly on set. And we’ve also had a great deal of support from members of the Hungarian film industry, particularly from service providers. Without this support, it would have been a lot more difficult.

“I really wanted to work with György,” explained Pusztai (who was a European Film Promotion Producer on the Move in 2007). “He was the director of the first short film that I produced, and since then, I couldn’t wait to be able to make a feature film with him. Plus, we have other projects that we’re working on together: The Voice (see news), which is being developed with TorinoFilmLab; and his next movie, Toldi, on which I’m part of the team of producers.”

Produced by KMH Film and Popfilm, Free Fall is being co-produced by the Hungarian companies VisionTeam and Origo Film Group, by the French firm Sciapode and by the JI South Korean festival. Its release in Hungarian cinemas will be handled by Vertigo Media in September 2014, and international sales are at an advanced stage of negotiations.
