Seigner and Foïs take on Maman Balasko
by Fabien Lemercier
13/04/2011 - On May 9, shooting will start in Paris on Alexandra Leclère’s third feature: Maman (“Mum”). After Me and My Sister (2004) and The Price to Pay [trailer] (2007), the director will once again look at family conflict, but this time more from a dramatic rather than comic angle.
The cast includes Josiane Balasko (The Hedgehog [trailer]), Marina Foïs (Happy Few [trailer], The Big Picture [trailer]) and Mathilde Seigner (who shortly before will shoot Yann Samuell’s War of the Buttons – see news – and shortly after Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar’s Bowling – see news).
Scripted by the director, the film centres on two sisters (Seigner and Foïs) who settle their scores with their mother (Balasko).
Produced by Sylvie Pialat for Les Films du Worso and by LGM Cinéma, Maman will first of all shoot in Paris (including some swimming pool scenes) before relocating to the Crozon peninsula in Brittany for over four weeks until early July. The production team will reveal the other partners at a later date.
