by Fabien Lemercier
27/09/2011 - Leading, at the same time, a glittering career as an actress (four nominations in ten years for the Best Supporting Actress César including in 2010 for The French Kissers [trailer], and recently acclaimed in Guilty [trailer], House of Tolerance [trailer] and Skylab [trailer]) and director (in competition at Venice in 2003, four nominations for the César Awards, a Louis-Delluc Award and 1.2m admissions in France for Feelings), Noémie Lvovsky is combining her two passions with her fifth feature Camille Redouble (“Camille Repeats a Year”), which starts shooting today.
The director, who will play the lead role, has put together an impressive cast including Samir Guesmi (The Woman in the Fifth [trailer]), young India Hair (The Night Clerk [trailer]), Judith Chemla (Versailles [trailer, film focus]), Julia Faure, Michel Vuillermoz (One for the Road [trailer]), Anne Alvaro (The Clink of Ice [trailer]), the duo from The French Kissers (Vincent Lacoste and Antony Sonigo) and famous thesps Yolande Moreau Denis Podalydès, Jean-Pierre Léaud and Mathieu Amalric.
Scripted by the director in collaboration with Florence Seyvos, Pierre-Olivier Mattei and Maude Ameline, the film centres on Camille who is 16 when she meets Eric. They love each other passionately and, very young, they have a daughter together.
Twenty-five years later: Eric has just left Camille for a younger woman. The evening of December 31, Camille is suddenly transported back to her past. She is 16 again. She rediscovers her parents, her friends, her adolescence… and Eric. Will she shun him and try to change both their lives? Will she love him again even though she knows how their love affair ends?
Camille Redouble is produced by Jean-Louis Livi for F Comme Film and Philippe Carcassonne for Ciné@. Its €6.5m budget includes co-production support from France 2 Cinéma and pre-acquisitions from Canal + and Ciné+.
Shooting will take place until December 9 in and around Paris. The name of the French distributor and international seller is being kept secret for the moment by the production team.
