16/01/2012 - Though it was largely an American show at the 69th annual Golden Globe awards, there were several moments of cheer for Europe with The Artist [trailer, film focus] leading the way.
Michel Hazanavicius’ homage to silent cinema won Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical; Jean Dujardin won Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical; and composer Ludovic Bource won Best Original Score – Motion Picture (see news).
The UK also enjoyed its share of the spoils with American actress Meryl Streep winning Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in UK/France co-production The Iron Lady [trailer].
American icon Woody Allen won Best Screenplay – Motion Picture for Spain/US co-production Midnight In Paris [trailer].
