TF1 International launches sales for Aya of Yop City

The silver-screen adaptation of the excellent cartoon series Aya of Yop City will be part of TF1 International’s line-up at the 62th Berlinale’s European Film Market from February 9 to 19. The French international sales company will launch sales for the film.

Co-directed by Clément Oubrerie and Marguerite Abouet and to be distributed from July 11 in French cinemas by UGC, the film is set in a popular neighbourhood of Abidjan in the 1970s and recounts the misadventures of Aya, 19, her friends, and family. With production led by Autochenille Production (The Rabbi’s Cat), Aya de Yopougon was produced on a €6.9m budget, including the support of the region of Ile-de-France.

Also in the line-up is Asphalt Playground by Julien Abraham, a first feature film produced by Agat Films that explores, in a tone of dramatic comedy, the lives of young adolescents from a heated neighbourhood in Paris. Sales are also being launched for the comedy Ducoboo 2 – Crazy vacation.

Nicolas Eschbach’s team will unveil promo reels for Thérèse Desqueyroux by Claude Miller, a film starring Audrey Tautou and due out in France on Nevember 21 (read more), and for Australian film Drift with Sam Worthington et Xavier Samuel. Also of note are the market premieres for British production Now is Good by Ol Parker with Dakota Fanning, Jeremy Irvine, and Paddy Considine, and for Greed by Eric Guirado (article).

Among the titles still in post-production in TF1 International’s line-up are also Pirate TV by Michel Leclerc (article), Little Cookie by Léa Fazer (article), House in Britanny by Anne le Ny, and the mini-series Flight of the Storks by Jan Kounen, based on the best-seller by Jean-Christophe Grangé, and starring Rutger Hauer.
