09/05/2012 - What a luxurious and globalised line-up it will be for French international sales agency MK2, when it goes to the Film Market at the 65th Cannes Film Festival (from May 16 to 27) with three contenders for the Palme d’Or! MK2 participated in the production of all three films, will distribute them in France, and is now selling them worldwide. They are: Like Someone in Love by Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, On the Road [trailer] by Brazilian director Walter Salles (photo - out in France on May 23), and After the Battle by Egyptian director Yousry Nasrallah.
The agency, headed by Marin and Nathanaël Karmitz, also intends to do good business with another of its co-productions: Laurence Anyways [trailer] by young Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan, selected for the Certain Regard (and out in France on July 18).
MK2 will also unveil A Monkey on my Shoulder (read more) by Marion Laine, to feature Juliette Binoche, Edgar Ramirez, and Hippolyte Girardot, as a market premiere.
New to the line-up is the documentary A Weapon of Choice by Florence Tran in which she shows how cameras took part in the Egyptian revolution, before and after Mubarak, through fiction, documentary, and citizen journalism.
Finally, MK2’s titles in post-production notably include Something in the Air by Olivier Assayas (news), said to have just missed a Cannes selection, and Nuts (read more), a first feature by Yann Coridian to feature performances by Eric Elmosnino and Sophie Quinton.
