Détrompez-vous: "A foursome complicates things"
by Fabien Lemercier
30/11/2006 - Post-production has begun on Détrompez-vous (lit. “Don’t You Believe It”), the debut cinema feature by Bruno Dega, which wrapped up shooting in Corsica on November 24.
Starring four actors very much in vogue at the moment – François Cluzet, (Tell No One [trailer]), Roschdy Zem (Days of Glory [trailer, film focus]), Mathilde Seigner (Camping [trailer]) and Alice Taglioni (The Valet [trailer]) – the film by the experienced television director and scriptwriter is a comedy that deals with the typical subjects of the farce of marriage, love and adultery, based on the idea that "a foursome complicates things".
Introduced to each other in the yard of their children’s school, the two ‘official’ couples Thomas (Zem) and Carole (Taglioni) and Lionel (Cluzet) and Lisa (Seigner) hide a third secret partner. But when Lionel and Carole find out about the affairs of their respective partners, their reaction will be as determined as it is unexpected.
After having contemplated murder and suicide, the two betrayed partners make a pact to spoil and destroy the passionate relationship between the two lovers in order to win back their husband and wife. Alas, nothing goes as planned, as with two men and two women several combinations are possible in this film, co-written by the director and Jeanne Le Guillou.
Produced by Nathalie Gastaldo for Pan Européenne, Détrompez-vous had a nine-week shoot (seven in Lyon, two in Corsica) and received co-production support from TF1 Films Production and StudioCanal, who are also handling world sales.
Wild Bunch Distribution will release the film in French cinemas on October 31, 2007.
