Les Films du Losange offer teeming line-up30/04/2009 - Successful deals look set to be struck by Les Films du Losange at the Film Market at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival (May 13-24).

The company headed by Margaret Menegoz has one major asset in particular in its line-up: Austrian director Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon [trailer, film focus], which will vie for the Palme d’Or. Les Films du Losange co-produced the feature and will release it on French screens on October 21.

The international sales team helmed by Agathe Valentin is also hoping for success with up-and-coming director Mia Hansen-Love’s French/German co-production Father of My Children [trailer, film focus] (see news), to be presented in the Un Certain Regard section. The company will release the title domestically on December 16.

Les Films du Losange has a third film selected in a Cannes sidebar: French director Alain Guiraudie’s Le Roi de l'Evasion [trailer] (“The King of Escape”, see news), which will screen in the Directors’ Fortnight. The film starring Hafsia Herzi (Shooting Star 2009 - see interview) will be out by August 5.

Among the market screenings are Claude Miller’s documentary Marching Band, which delves into the daily life of US campus bands just before Barack Obama’s election (to be released in France by Les Films du Losange on June 1); and Susanne Schneider’s German/French co-production The Day Will Come.

The line-up also includes two features unveiled at Berlin: Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda’s Sweet Rush [trailer], which was released domestically last Friday (see news); and French director Sophie FillièresPardon my French [trailer], released in France on March 25 by Losange.

Also on the slate is Jacques Rivette’s French/Italian co-production Trente-six vues du Pic Saint-Loup (“Thirty-six Views from the Pic Saint-Loup”, see news), which is currently in post-production and whose pre-sales will be negotiated on the basis of the screenplay. The same applies for King’s of Devil’s Island (co-production between Norway’s 4 ½ Production and France’s Mact Productions), which will start shooting shortly.

Finally, besides sales, Les Films du Losange will release Danish director Lars von Trier’s Antichrist [trailer, film focus] in France on June 3.
