Poppe’s Troubled Water wins Critics Award

was awarded the Norwegian Film Critics’ 2009 Award in Oslo yesterday. The Norwegian filmmaker previously won the prestigious award in 2005 for Hawaii, Oslo [+see also:

.

Troubled Water beat out other popular Norwegian films from 2008, such as Stian Kristiansen’s The Man Who Loved Yngve [+see also:
trailer
film profile
]
and Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg’s Max Manus [+see also:
trailer
film profile
]
. The Paradox production sold over 100,000 admissions in Norway last year and was acquired for foreign distribution by Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Poland, Portugal and France.
