Soderbergh’s Che and Vinterberg’s Man Comes Home

30/04/2009 - The May 1 holiday weekend sees the release of several quality films. After the success of Che: Part One [trailer], which garnered just under €2m at the Italian box office, coming out on 180 screens is Steven Soderbergh’s Che: Part Two [trailer], starring Benicio del Toro (Best Actor winner at Cannes 2008) and distributed by BIM (see news).
With A Man Comes Home [trailer], Thomas Vinterberg returns ten years after The Celebration to depict a family intrigue, though a comedy this time. The film features an excellent cast and wonderful cinematography by the UK’s Anthony Dod Mantle (Oscar winner for Slumdog Millionaire [trailer, film focus]). (See news and interview with the Danish director). Teodora is distributing the film in 28 Italian cities.
European cinema is further represented by Christian Molina’s Diary of a Sex Addict [trailer] (see news), being released on 90 screens by MediaFilm, while Isabel Coixet directs Oscar winners Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz in Elegy [trailer], based on Philip Roth’s novel The Dying Animal, a US production on release by 01 on 35 screens.
