Rothemund gets romantic with Lila
by Bénédicte Prot
17/08/2009 - Popular director Marc Rothemund, who drew 1.7m German viewers in 1999 with his second feature, the teenage comedy Ants in the Pants, before rising to international prominence with his drama Sophie Scholl: The Final Days [trailer], continues to alternate between serious and light-hearted subjects.
Last week, he started shooting, in Berlin and Munich, on the comedy Alles für Lila, produced by Ewa Karlström and Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton for Sam Film (for whom they both produced the popular Wild Soccer Bunch series).
In his new film, co-written by Kristina Magdalena Henn and Lea Schmidbauer, Rothemund fulfils the dream of all adolescent girls: attracting the attention of a star. Indeed, 16-year-old protagonist Lila (played by Anna Fischer, seen in Fleisch Ist Mein Gemüse [trailer]) returns home after a year in the US and falls in love with a boy (Kostja Ullmann) without realising that he’s a famous singer, idolised by teenage girls.
The cast also includes Inka Friedrich (Summer in Berlin [trailer]). The soundtrack will be performed by Ullmann, under the supervision of experienced producer Roland Spremberg. The film will be lensed by DoP Martin Langer (Effi Briest [trailer]).
Walt Disney Pictures will launch Alles für Lila domestically on September 2, 2010.
