Helgeland appointed to NFI

Veteran industry professional Stine Helgeland, who has spent the last 12 years at distribution company Sandrew Metronome, will join the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI) on February 1, 2010 as the new head of International and Promotion, a position held for the last year by Bjarte Ytre-Arne.

Helgeland will be responsible for launching Norwegian films at international festivals and markets; promoting Norwegian locations and facilities to international producers and financiers; and organising film weeks and cultural events in Norway and abroad. She will also supervise domestic campaigns of Norwegian films.

Helgeland has been working in the film industry for the last 17 years. In 1997, she joined Sandrew Metronome Norge as Publicity and Marketing Manager, handling both local acquisitions and Warner Bros releases. In 2004, she was promoted to head of acquisitions and Nordic distribution for Sandrew Metronome International, the Scandinavian distribution operation owned by media group Schibsted. In her new position at the NFI, Helgeland will work closely with heads of International Relations Stine Oppegaard (feature films), Toril Simonsen (shorts documentaries) and Astri Dehli Blindheim (information and film weeks). She will refer to the institute’s Managing Director, Nina Refseth.
