Loft among 10 European titles to open in Osaka

12/11/2009 - Flemish box office hit Loft [trailer] by Erik Van Looy will have its Japanese premiere at the 16th Osaka European Film Festival. The non-competitive showcase takes place for the entire month of November, and includes several events parallel to its core section of ten European premieres.
Jan Decleir, one of Flanders’ most acclaimed film and theatre actors, will present Loft as well a mini-retrospective on his career that includes another collaboration with Van Looy, The Alzheimer Case [trailer], as well as 1993 title Priester Daens by Stijn Coninx.
The other nine European premieres are Krisztina Goda’s Chamelon [trailer], Gabriele Salvatores’ As God Commands [trailer], Oliver Paulus’s Tandoori Love [trailer], Annette K. Olesen’s Little Soldier [trailer], Panos H. Koutras’ Strella [trailer], Nicolae Margineanu’s Exchange, Dorota Kędzierzawska’s Time To Die, Ventura Pons’ Strangers [trailer] and Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s Home [trailer].
A sidebar special focus on the Netherlands includes a rich selection of films since 1980, among them Love is All [trailer] by Joram Lürsen and Paul Verhoeven’s Black Book [trailer].
Osaka is also hosting a section of animated films made by Lithuanian children, photo exhibitions by Kris Dewitte and the exhibit Sayonara Maurice!, dedicated to composer Maurice Jarre, who passed away last March. Jarre had been Osaka’s 15th edition commissioner.
