15/03/2010 - The Cineuropa.org Award has gone to Vladimir Perisic’s Serbian film Ordinary People [trailer, film focus], in competition at the Miami International Film Festival, which ended yesterday.
The prize – which consists of promotion of the film – was presented by Italian producer Roberto Cicutto, president of Cinecittà Luce and director of The Business Street market of the Rome International Film Festival. The award motivation reads: “This clinical description of a terrifying reality is explored in a realist style and looks at the symbolic initiation in to evil, giving Ordinary People a universal and philosophical resonance".
Cicutto also gave a Special Mention to Romanian director Calin Peter Netzer’s Medal of Honor [trailer], "whose greatest forte is the performance of its extraordinary lead actor".
