Gray and Canet for StudioCanal, Cotillard and Cronenberg for Kinology

Three significant announcements were made at the start of the Film Market at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival (May 12-23).

StudioCanal has added Rivals (working title) to its line-up. This English-language project will be co-directed by Guillaume Canet and James Gray, who are putting the finishing touches to the screenplay, adapted from Jacques Maillot’s film Rivals. StudioCanal will act as executive producer along with LGM Cinéma.

Kinology is officially launching pre-sales for David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, based on Don DeLillo’s novel. Produced by Paolo Branco for Alfama Films in co-production with Canada, the film will star Marion Cotillard and Colin Farrell. Shooting will take place in spring 2011.

Kinology has also started pre-sales for Chistophe Gans’s big-budget film Fantomas. Produced by La Petite Reine, it will star Vincent Cassel and Jean Reno.

Meanwhile, TF1 International has expanded its line-up with Anne Fontaine’s next project Thérèse B., produced by UGC YM. The director will reunite with actress Audrey Tautou, who also played the lead role in Coco Before Chanel [+see also:
