Lewiston holds The Hot Potato

Veteran sound designer Tim Lewiston has turned director with comedy-thriller The Hot Potato, principal photography for which is underway in Belgium and the UK.

The cast includes Ray Winstone (44 Inch Chest [+see also:

), Colm Meaney (Kings) and Jack Huston (Mr. Nice [+see also:

). Set in the late 60s, the film is a caper that sees Winstone and Huston’s characters come into possession of a large lump of uranium, the titular ‘hot potato’. What follows is a merry chase across Europe with several diverse and bizarre characters trying to steal the precious but possibly radioactive element.

Lewiston, Alan Latham (Dead Man Running) and Robert How (Intervention) are producing for Novak Productions, uFilm sprl and Wardour Pictures Plc with David Rich Jones as co-producer, Sonita Gale as associate producer and Anthony Townson as executive producer.

Lewiston, who has worked on over 40 features in 38 years in the industry, said, “It’s wonderfully exciting to embark on my very own first feature. It’s a great story and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to tell it with such a dream cast of international talent. As Orson Welles remarked, this is the biggest electric train set a boy ever had!”

Locomotive Group will handle all worldwide sales.
