Eurimages announces new application regulations

Eurimages, the Council of Europe fund for the co-production, distribution and exhibition of European cinematographic works, has announced new application regulations, which enter into force from January 1, 2011.

According to the new conditions, each co-production support application must have 50% confirmed financing in each of the co-producing countries on the date of application. This will mean that the time taken to examine projects can be reduced from 11 to seven weeks.

Producers will be able to start shooting before the Board’s meeting, provided that they have obtained prior authorization from the Eurimages Secretariat and provided that no more than 50% of the shooting is concerned.

Moreover, producers will now be able to submit projects only once after they have previously been withdrawn. Finally, Eurimages is making the production of a digital answer print obligatory for all the films it supports.
