Tom Sawyer takes shape

08/12/2010 - Last month, Hermine Huntgeburth (Effi Briest [trailer]) wrapped shooting on Tom Sawyer, after 50 days of lensing in Romania and in Germany – mainly at MMC Studios in Cologne, which are very busy at the moment. German audiences will however have to wait another year to discover this German version of Mark Twain’s classic: Majestic Filmverleih plans to release the film on November 17, 2011.
The adaptation is scripted by Peer Klehmet and Sebastian Wehlings and lensed by Vietnamese DoP The Chau Ngo (Gravity [trailer], 66/67 – Fairplay Is Over [trailer]). It has a prestigious cast, including Benno Fürmann as Indian Joe, young actors Louis Hofmann and Leon Seidel as Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn respectively, alongside Heike Makatsch (Hilde [trailer]) as Aunt Polly, Joachim Król (Henry of Navarre [trailer]) and Peter Lohmeyer.
Tom Sawyer is produced by Boris Schönfelder for Berlin-based Neue Schönhauser Filmproduktion, in co-production with Filmaufbau Leipzig and Majestic Filmproduktion and with collaboration from ARD Degeto, Arte and regional television networks NDR and BR.
