Of Gods and Men leads Lumière nominations

21/12/2010 - Awarded, rather like the Golden Globes, to the best artists of French and Francophone cinema by foreign journalists based in Paris, the 16th Lumière Awards will be presented on January 14.
Standing out among the nominees are Xavier Beauvois’s Of Gods and Men [trailer, film focus] (four nominations), Olivier Assayas’s Carlos [trailer] (three nominations), Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer [trailer] (three nominations) and Joann Sfar’s Je T’Aime, Moi Non Plus [trailer] (three nominations), which will all compete for Best Film alongside Sylvain Chomet’s The Illusionist [trailer, film focus].
Vying for the Best Actress crown are Juliette Binoche (Certified Copy [trailer]), Isabelle Carré (Les Emotifs Anonymes [trailer]), Catherine Deneuve (Potiche [trailer]), Ludivine Sagnier (Lily Sometimes [trailer]) and Kristin Scott Thomas (Her Name Was Sarah [trailer]).
Battling it out for the Best Actor Lumière are Eric Elmosnino (Je T’Aime, Moi Non Plus), Michael Lonsdale (Of Gods and Men) and Edgar Ramírez (Carlos), alongside two actors nominated for two films each: Romain Duris (Heartbreaker [trailer] and The Big Picture [trailer]) and Lambert Wilson (Of Gods and Men and The Princess of Montpensier [trailer]).
