Karukoski on a glorious Odyssey at Jussis

Dome Karukoski’s box office hit Lapland Odyssey won four top prizes last Sunday evening at the annual Jussi Finnish Film Awards ceremony: Best Film, Director, Screenplay and the Audience award.

Produced by Helsinki Filmi, the comedy has sold nearly 360,000 admissions in Finland and opened this week in France. The Yellow Affair is selling the film at the European Film Market in Berlin.

Jalmari Helander’s debut film Rare Exports won six Jussis in the leading technical categories and filmmaking duo Joonas Berghäll and Mika Hotakainen received a Jussi for their multiple award-winning documentary Steam of Life.

Thespians Ville Virtanen and Katja Küttner won Best Actor and Best Actress for their respective performances in 2010 Berlinale Panorama selection Bad Family by Aleksi Salmenperä and Arto Halonen’s Princess.
