Approved law hikes ticket prices, could give cinema €48m of state funds

28/02/2011 - The approval of the decree law of December 29, 2010 confirms a film tax stipulating that as of July 1 cinema admission prices will increase by €1 to finance tax breaks for producers, which are being renewed.

The ticket hike will remain in effect through December 31, 2013.

The Entertainment Industry Fund (FUS) is being only partially reinstated, with talk of another reintegration this June. The law includes only an additional €15m with respect to earlier figures, bringing the total FUS to €259m, just under half of what it was two years ago (€457m).

The FUS portion allotted for cinema was 18.5% in 2010. If it is re-confirmed, the state’s financial support to cinema would be €47,915,000.
