Co-scripted by the director and Guillaume Daporta, the film looks at a family of affluent shopkeepers at a critical time, through the eyes of their daughter Camille. She discovers the brutal world of adults: a couple who are tearing each other apart, a jealous, fickle and violent father, a mother incapable of standing up for herself, and a fragile day-to-day life that is falling apart.

How does she love her parents when their love is imperceptible and tenderness has been masked by chaos? How does she love an unfaithful father who mistreats her adored mother? How does she love this father without feeling she is betraying her mother? From all the torment, cruel feelings and suffering, there nonetheless emerges, paradoxically, the hope of metamorphosis, forgiveness and rebirth.

Produced by Mathieu Bompoint for Mezzanine Films (whose first feature production, Free Hands [+see also:

, screened in the Forum section at the recent Berlinale), Pet Paradise received an advance on receipts from the National Film and Moving Image Centre (CNC).

The film, which has been shooting since January 24 mainly in Chamonix and Vars, will be distributed in French theatres by Shellac. International sales are still under negotiation.
