Titanic crowns Savage

19/04/2011 - At Budapest’s Titanic International Film Festival (see news), Swedish directors Martin Jern and Emil Larsson’s Savage [trailer] nabbed the Breaking Waves Award for Best Film in International Competition.
Produced by Dansk Skalle AB, Savage stars Magnus Skog, Nicolaj Schröder,Sofie Karlsson, Rolf Jarl, Emelie Sundelin, Stefan Söderberg and Michael Petersson. Scripted by the two directors, the film centres on Kim, who has grown up in a family of crooks in the Swedish countryside. Upon his release from prison, he yearns for a quiet life, but he won’t be able to escape his criminal destiny.
The Titanic Festival Audience Award went to Danish director Thomas Vinterberg’s Submarino [trailer, film focus], which outstripped Robin Hessman’s US/UK/Russian co-production My Perestroika and Janus Metz’s Armadillo [trailer, film focus].
Finally, the Student Jury Prize was awarded to Zuzana Liová’s Slovakian/Czech co-production House [trailer].
