(2009), Rodríguez is this time trying his hand at a police-themed genre film. It marks the second production by José Antonio Félez for his company Atípica Films, following Daniel Sánchez Arévalo’s hit comedy Cousinhood (2011).

) as two policemen who belong to the controversial Group 7. It centres on four police officers – Ángel (Casas), Rafael (De la Torre), Miguel (José Manuel Poga) and Mateo (Joaquín Nuñez) – for whom there is no such thing as the fine line separating rather unethical methods from overtly illegal ones.

Co-scripted by Rodríguez and Rafael Cobos, Group 7 focuses in particular on the relationship between Ángel, a young, intelligent and compassionate aspiring inspector, and Rafael, an efficient, forceful and arrogant policeman. Ángel moves ever more easily towards the path of ambition and excessive police behaviour, while something changes inside Rafael thanks to the unexpected love of beautiful and enigmatic Lucía.

Set in Seville prior to the Universal Exhibition of 1992, the movie promises to combine action and intrigue with the director’s usual attention character. Co-produced by Atípica Films and La Zanfoña for €2.75m, it will be released in 2012 by Warner Bros Spain.
