Marcias's I bambini della sua vita is special event at gay cinema award

24/08/2011 - I bambini della sua vita [trailer], by Peter Marcias, will feature as the special event of the Queer Lion Award 2011, the award given at the http://www.labiennale.org/" target="_blank">Venie Film Festival that tackle themes linked to homosexuality and diversity. The Sardinian director's film, which is set in Cagliari and stars Piera Degli Esposti (this year's Foreign Press Golden Globe for Best Actress for the role) Nino Frassica and Julien Alluguette, will be screened at the Lido on September 3.
The works in the running for the award for best film with a homosexual theme include Horizons, the Portuguese medium-length feature Palácios de pena by Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt, South Korean film Stateless Things by Kyungmook Kim and US biopic Sal, directed by James Franco, which is a tribute to the life of bisexual actor Sal Mineo; from the International Critics' Week, Canadian Marécages by Guy Édoin, about a troubled teenager who is discovering his sexuality.
Now in its fifth edition, The Queer Lion Award, which is organised and presented by CinemArte, has this year for the first time obtained the patronage of MiBAC and the Province of Venice, as well as from the Region of Veneto, from the City Council of Venice and from the National Union of Italian Film Critics. Past editions have awarded the "rainbow lion" to, amongst other, British film-maker Kenneth Branagh (special mention for Sleuth [trailer]), Taiwanese director Ang Lee, Lifetime Achievement Award, and American stylist Tom Ford, for his director's debut with A Single Man.
