The Vampire Sisters get a bite of the big screen

Shooting started yesterday in the city of Herne, in North Rhine-Westphalia on the family film Die Vampirschwestern (The Vampire Sisters), an adaptation of Franziska Gehm’s children’s book series of the same name, published by Loewe Verlag. Since the first novel, published in 2008, the series has sold over 400,000 copies and has already been translated into 18 languages. The eighth volume will be available in bookshops in November.

The film is helmed by Wolfgang Groos (pictured), who this year attracted over 780,000 viewers into German theatres with The Crocodiles 3 [+see also:

. The two title roles of sisters Silvania and Dakaria Tepes are played by Marta Martin and Laura Roge. The nice vampire family, an almost ordinary family who could live near you, is completed by the parents, played by Christiane Paul (The Wave [+see also:
