German (co-)productions at New York

29/09/2011 - The 49th edition of the New York Film Festival (Septembre 30 – October 16) is presenting several exciting German titles and coproductions, starting with Roman Polanski's latest effort, Carnage [trailer], coproduced by the German outfit Constantin with French and Polish partners and chosen as the opening film.
The festival is also featuring amongst its Special Events the interesting threefold project Dreileben, which consists of three different features made by three notorious German directors around the story of a criminal's escape : Dreileben – One Minute of Darkness (Heimatfilm) by Christoph Hochhäusler, Dreileben – Beats Being Dead (Schramm Film Koerner & Weber) by Christian Petzold, and Dominik Graf's Dreileben – Don't Follow Me Around (Burkert Bareiss Produktion, TV60 Film).
The Special Gala Presentations programme includes prestigious German coproductions by film masters : Wim Wenders' Pina [trailer] (coproduced by his German company Neue Road Movies), David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method [trailer] (coproduced by Lago Film), Mia Hansen-Løve's Goodbye First Love [trailer, film focus] (Razor Film), Aki Kaurismäki's Le Havre [trailer, film focus] (Pandora Filmproduktion), Julia Loktev's The Loneliest Planet [trailer] (Flying Moon Filmproduktion), Lars von Trier's Melancholia [trailer, film focus] (Zentropa International), Ulrich Köhler's Silver Bear-winning Sleeping Sickness [trailer, film focus] (Komplizen Film), and Béla Tarr's last film, The Turin Horse [trailer, film focus] (zero one film).
