German films in Warsaw10/10/2011 - Since last Friday the 27th Warsaw Film Festival (October 7-16) has been featuring several Germans (co)productions.

Two coproductions have been selected in the international competition : Michale Boganim's Land of Oblivion [trailer] (pic), a movie on Chernobyl coproduced by Vanderstastic with French and Polish partners, and Czech director Tomáš Luňák's Alois Nebel [trailer], coproduced by Pallas Film.

'Competition 1-2' is featuring David Wnendt's Combat Girls, a mafilm production, and Oday Rasheed's Qarantina, coproduced by DIE BASISberlin.

The documentary competition is presenting three fully German titles : Christian Illner and Andre Nier's Field Trip, Edda Baumann-von Broen's Tall Girls, and Matthias Thönnissen's Überflieger – The Art of Skijumping.

Switzerland's Tim Fehlbaum's Hell [trailer], coproduced by Caligari, is scheduled as a special screening, while Christian Schwochow's Karlovy Vary awardee Cracks in the Shell [trailer] (prod. teamWorx) and the Berlinale competitor Innocent Saturday (coprod. Bavaria) by Aleksandr Mindadze are featured in the 'Discoveries' section. The programme of 'Discoveries – The World' includes Michael Radford's Michel Petrucciani [trailer] (coproduced by LOOKS) and Stefano Levi's Out of the Darkness (prod. Human Touch Pictures).

Besides German Film's selection of short films 'Next Generation 2011', the 'Family Cinema Weekend' sidebar includes two German shorts, and the short films competition three productions and two coproductions.
