16/11/2011 - British film industry veteran Sally Caplan (pictured) has joined global content and distribution player Entertainment One Filmed Entertainment in the newly created role of Managing Director of international sales. The company will also move its international headquarters from Toronto to London, where Caplan is based.
There will be a Toronto team in place that will report to Caplan, who herself will report to Entertainment One’s Chief Operating Officer Nelson Kuo-Lee.
Caplan was the head of the Premiere Fund at the erstwhile UK Film Council where she was one of those responsible for funding The King’s Speech [trailer, film focus], Nowhere Boy [trailer] and Happy Go Lucky [trailer] amongst many others. She has also held senior positions in Icon Film Distribution, Momentum Pictures and Universal.
Kuo-Lee said, “We’re thrilled to have Sally Caplan join the team as our international film business expands into the UK and the rest of Europe. Sally’s wealth of relationships with content owners will enhance Entertainment One’s ability to acquire international rights to premium films and offer greater access to these projects at an earlier stage for our distribution operations in the UK, Canada, Australia and the Benelux.”
Entertainment One is in rude good health financially with their interim results for the last six months showing a 121% rise in profits before tax.
