16th German Film Festival opens in Paris with Thalheim's Westwind

Paris is welcoming its 16th German Film Festival (November 23-29). A total of 12 new feature films and six shorts plus the NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER 2011 programme are to be screened at the cinema L'Arlequin.

The main programme also includes Hendrik Handloegten's Summer Window, Brigitte Bertele's The Fire, Johannes Schmid's Winter Daughter, Dirk Lütter's The Education, Stephan Rick's The Good Neighbour, Ulrich Köhler's Sleeping Sickness [+see also:

, Christian Zübert's Three Quarter Moon and Pepe Danquart's Joschka und Herr Fischer. Numerous guests are expected, such as Handloegten, Zübert, Bertele, Danquart, Nina Hoss, Fritzi Haberlandt and Ursula Werner.

Apart from German Films' programme of shorts NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER 2011, the six short films selected are being shown in co-operation with AG Kurzfilm.

This year, the accompanying programme put together by the Goethe Institute is focusing on director Andres Veiel, who will attends the screenings of his movies The Kick, If Not Us, Who?, Die Spielwütigen, and Black Box Germany. A night-long show will allow the public to discover the trilogy Three Lives, consisting of three features by Christian Petzold, Dominik Graf, and Christoph Hochhäusler. Petzold will be on hand to answer questions from the audience.

This year, the German Film Festival is beginning at the same time as the German-French Film Meeting (November 23-24) (see the news).
